Political Mischief Foiled

Federal Elections Commission

tosses complaint against Fred4US.

Case dismissed!

“Based upon the information contained in the complaint and information provided by respondents (Fred Costello for Congress), the Commission decided to dismiss allegations that Fred Costello and you in your official capacity as treasurer, violated provisions of the Act. The Commission then closed its file in this matter.”

The Federal Elections Commission has dismissed a December 29, 2017 complaint filed against the Fred Costello for Congress campaign by Thomas Homan of Orange City, Florida.

The commission found no merit in the complaint and no actionable violations of federal election law by Fred Costello, his campaign or campaign treasurer.

In a May 25, 2018 letter to Fred4US Campaign Treasurer Steve Tacinelli, FEC Acting General Counsel Lisa J. Stevenson wrote:

“based upon the information contained in the complaint and information provided by respondents (Fred Costello for Congress), the Commission decided to dismiss allegations that Fred Costello and you in your official capacity as treasurer, violated provisions of the Act. The Commission then closed its file in this matter.”

Fred Costello’s Campaign Manager Vic Baker referred to the complaint as “mischief-making”, likely initiated by one of his opponents through a third party who does not even belong to the Republican Party.

“We were happy that the complaint attracted media attention to the January 6 launch of our campaign,” said Baker.
