“You know that you’re going to see me after the election. The other two, if they don’t win this, I would wager that we won’t be seeing them again in this district. They don’t live here. They’re not a part of us.”
Fred Costello, who has served as mayor of Ormond Beach and a state representative, in additon to three years in the U.S. Air Force — is a longtime resident of Volusia County, which comprises more than two-thirds of the voters in District 6. Flagler County and portions of Lake and St. Johns counties are also in the district.
Earlier in the debate, Costello highlighted one of the campaign advantages Waltz enjoys over his opponents: His association with Fox News. Until he entered the race in January, Waltz had served as a contributor, a foreign policy and military analyst, and he continues to keep a regular presence on the network that’s so influential in conservative politics.
Costello suggested the TV studio is a long way from Florida’s 6th District.
“We have a choice between someone whose focus is Fox News and someone whose focus is us,” Costello said. “I want to serve us.”
RESOLVED: Our next Congressman should live in our district.
